This month, we’re highlighting Earning Partner Orlando R. from Austin, TX!
How long have you been working with dlivrd?
Since June of 2022!
What does your journey into the gig economy/dlivrd look like?
I’ve been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years in customer-centered roles. I’ve always enjoyed making people happy. So when I go and deliver food, it makes everyone happy! That, along with the fact I am my own boss and can choose which orders I choose or decline. I also have my own moving company as well, so I understand the benefits that come with gig flexibility. Furthermore, dlivrd offers insurance through Local Delivery Perks so I was able to sign up. This is an extra added benefit for me! I love that dlivrd has this offering, it shows they really care about drivers on their platform.
What does the #dlivrddifference mean to you?
I always appreciate the day-before order assignments. It allows me to plan my next 24 hours out, especially being a new father. It also means transparency with earnings, and opportunities to be connected to high-quality deliveries. Payout is also very swift, and if we have any questions the dlivrd team is on standby willing to jump in and answer any questions that may come up!
What advice would you give to new Earning Partners?
For Earning Partners who are new to the catering delivery world, I highly recommend that you have the appropriate tools for making your job easier. You always want to work smarter. Make sure you have plenty of stable, sturdy insulated bags and a cart is really beneficial for not having to make multiple trips back to your car. Not only is it a load off, you also are able to take those larger orders for higher-quality earning opportunities. Reliable transportation is important as well. You want to make sure your car won’t break down or stop you mid-order leaving you unable to complete it. Take earnings and make the investment in your transportation since that’s the way you’re able to execute a catering delivery job.
Do you have a favorite dish from a restaurant you’ve completed a catering delivery for?
I’ve always wanted to try The Kebab Shop in East Austin! Their stuff smells fantastic, but I never had the chance to eat there yet. Via 313 is another awesome spot I discovered while completing catering deliveries, and now its my go-to pizza place!
Fun fact about yourself?
I’m always willing to help a fellow Earning Partner out! I believe it’s second-nature to me, with working in the service industry.
