Local Business Spotlight: Pennypack Farm & Education Center – Growing Community and Sustainability

At dlivrd, we pride ourselves on making a positive impact not just through our work, but also in the communities where we live and operate. As part of our commitment to giving back, our team participates in a quarterly volunteer day, where we roll up our sleeves and get involved with local organizations that are doing great work. This quarter, we had the pleasure of volunteering at Pennypack Farm & Education Center, a nonprofit that’s making a real difference in the world of sustainable agriculture and community education.
What Is Pennypack Farm & Education Center?

Located right in the heart of our community, Pennypack Farm & Education Center is dedicated to promoting sustainable local agriculture and fostering environmental stewardship. Their mission is simple but powerful: to make local, sustainable farming a key part of the community through farming, education, and events.

Pennypack Farm works with children, families, and community groups to raise awareness about the importance of local food systems and environmental health. Their educational programs and workshops cover everything from farming basics to the science of sustainable agriculture, helping people of all ages learn how to grow food responsibly and appreciate the land. They also run a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, which allows community members to get fresh, seasonal produce straight from the farm.

What’s especially inspiring about Pennypack Farm is their focus on creating connections—both to the land and to one another. The farm is a true community hub, bringing people together through workshops, volunteer opportunities, and community events. Whether it’s helping kids understand where their food comes from or offering a space for neighbors to connect, Pennypack Farm is a cornerstone of sustainability in our area.

The dlivrd Team Gets Involved

As part of our dlivrd difference, our company prioritizes community involvement. Every quarter, we choose a local organization to volunteer with, and this time, we were excited to spend the day at Pennypack Farm. The farm offered the perfect setting for our team to connect with nature, roll up our sleeves, and work together for a cause we all care about—sustainability.

Our day started with harvesting rutabaga turnips. Yes, two full rows of them! As a group, we worked side by side to gather the turnips, and while the work was physical, there was a sense of calm and accomplishment in connecting with the earth. It was a great reminder of how rewarding it is to grow and harvest food by hand.

Next, we helped move sandbags around the farm—another important task to support the farm’s operations. It was hard work, but we were all in it together, and it felt good to know our efforts were directly helping a local farm that provides fresh produce to the community.

At the end of the day, we were treated to a simple, yet delightful, gift: freshly picked carrots! There’s nothing like enjoying a sweet, crunchy carrot straight from the farm to make you appreciate the hard work that goes into growing food.

Why Pennypack Farm Is a Local Treasure

What truly makes Pennypack Farm & Education Center special is its role in the community. It’s not just a farm—it’s an educational hub, a gathering place, and a model for sustainable living. Pennypack Farm is helping to educate the next generation of farmers, gardeners, and environmentally-conscious citizens while offering a space for families and individuals to connect with nature and each other.
